A club run by volunteers
Herne Hill Youth Cycling Club (HHYCC) is run entirely by volunteers who give up their time to make sure the sessions are coached, bikes are fixed, register is taken, funds are raised and children are supported in the races we attend.
Almost all volunteers are parents who wanted to get involved and contribute. The club will fund any required cycling and first-aid training for volunteer roles, but many roles require neither specific training nor regular time commitment.
Above all, being a volunteer is fun. Many of our volunteers stay on helping out at the club even though their children have grown up and no longer attend.
Could you help us?
-
Could you train as a cycling coach? We will fund your British Cycling coaching course.
-
Could you be an assistant coach? Help lay out cones, carry equipment on site, help fit a helmet?
-
Could you give up time to help with publicity or do some printing?
-
Can you mend a puncture and help our mechanics?
-
Could you check and hand out bikes?
-
Could you help and take the register?
-
Could you help us raise funds to buy bikes and pay the rent?
Supported by fees and donations
We keep our fees low in order to make the club accessible to all, and that just about covers the rent of the Velodrome for the Saturday sessions.
We have other expenses in order to keep a stock of working bikes and helmets, and are reliant on donations and other local funding to keep us going.
-
Can you help apply for community funding?
-
Can you afford to donate on top of the £15 membership?
-
Does your work run a donation scheme?
-
Can you sponsor us?
